Why pages come out sideways
Rotation problems almost always come from scanning and photographing. Feed a page into a scanner the wrong way and it lands sideways; snap a document with your phone in landscape and it arrives rotated. The content is perfectly fine — it is just the page orientation flag that is wrong. Rotating fixes that flag so every viewer and printer shows the page upright.
Rotate one page or the whole document
Sometimes a single page is sideways in an otherwise-correct document; sometimes the entire file was scanned rotated. This tool handles both. Each page thumbnail has its own rotate button that turns it 90 degrees per click, and a "rotate all" button spins the whole document at once. You can combine them — rotate everything, then nudge one page back.
A metadata change, not a re-render
Rotating a PDF sets the page's rotation value; it does not redraw the content, so there is zero quality loss and the file stays the same size. The change is written into the document itself, so it is permanent and consistent everywhere the PDF is opened. And like every tool here, it runs in your browser — the file is never uploaded just to be turned the right way up.
Rotate first, then everything else
Rotation is often the first fix in a longer clean-up, so it is worth doing before other steps. Straightening pages before running OCR noticeably improves recognition accuracy, since the engine reads printed text far better when it is upright. Rotating before converting pages to images means the exported JPGs or PNGs come out the right way round. And a correctly oriented document simply reads and prints properly for whoever you send it to. If a scan came out sideways, fix the orientation here first, then move on to compressing, converting or extracting its text.
